The Grampians Health and St John of God Hospital Ballarat Human Research Ethics Committee (GH SJOG HREC) has vacancies (for a term of 3 years) for membership. The Grampians Health and St John of God Healthcare Human Research Ethics Committee is a duly constituted and registered Ethics Committee under the guidelines of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), responsible for approving, overseeing and monitoring the conduct and performance of research in both institutions and partners throughout the Grampians region.The Ethics Committee must approve all research projects to be run by staff members and visiting clinicians, and all projects involving participants who are patients/clients or staff members of Grampians Health and St John of God Ballarat Hospital and partner organisations.Research involving humans must not be undertaken until a formal, signed approval has been confirmed by GHSJOG HREC.The HREC reviews studies such as: Non-interventional. Qualitative. Laboratory or basic science. Observational studies. Clinical research involving drugs and devices. This includes both experimental agents, and those approved for use by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Non-standard clinical interventions. The Grampians Public Health Unit (GPHU) has been established to strengthen the public health response to communicable diseases and other health issues. The unit is part of a new system of devolved public health units across Victoria, to provide a new state-wide system of public health delivery and oversight.
