We provide a comprehensive service for children, adolescents and their families who are experiencing psychiatric, psychological and behavioral problems.  Young people between the ages of 0-14 can be referred to the Infant Child Mental Health Service.

What do we do?

Program areas encompassed by ICMHS include: Assessment and referral to Statewide Child and Adolescent inpatient services, community outpatient teams, therapeutic treatments, parent groups and collaboration with local schools and other services involved in your child’s care.           

ICMHS's goal is to have mental health services to help children and their families/carers to have a better understanding of the young person's, to recover from any mental health difficulties or mental illness and assist children to achieve great mental health and well-being.  We work with children’s families, education providers and other service providers.

Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment Program

The Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment Program provides Autism assessments for children between the ages of 2 and 18 years.  The specialised multidisciplinary team consists of a speech pathologist, social worker, occupational therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist.

CAMHS and Schools Early Action (CASEA) Program

The CASEA program promotes young children’s social, emotional and behavioural development. The program is an early intervention programs to support children, families and the wider school community.  Parent and child support is provided through a child and parent programs which are run at the school.  The support to the wider school community takes a number of forms. 

Children are selected for the program from Grade Prep – Grade 2, in consultation with teachers at the participating school who complete a brief screening questionnaire.

How to access this service?

Referrals can be made by parents/carers/guardian, General Practitioners, Paediatricians and community agencies, who have parents permission to make a referral.
