Did you receive a 'BHS Staff Alert' SMS text message?

Staff are required to respond 'Y' to acknowledge you have received the message and to receive further messages.

  • Coronavirus is highly infectious
  • The virus can be transmitted before symptoms appear
  • Symptoms may not develop for up to 2 weeks after exposure to an infected person
  • Quarantine is necessary to prevent further spread of the virus

Follow these instructions

1. Quarantine

Quarantine yourself at home or in your accommodation until 14 days after you were last in contact with the infectious person.

  • You MUST NOT leave your accommodation except to seek medical attention or in an emergency.
  • You should stay in a different room to other people as much as possible. Sleep in a separate bedroom and use a separate bathroom if available.
  • Do not use public transport or taxi services.
  • Get others, such as friends or family who are not required to be quarantined, to get food or other necessities for you.
    • If you have difficulties getting food or necessities call the coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398 and select option 3 for support.
  • Please keep Triple Zero (000) for emergencies only.

2. Get Tested

It is preferable you get tested through the BHS system.

  • This can be done online
  • Or through Sharepoint, if you are on a BHS computer or have remote access.
  • Or you can call 5320 8889 after 9am

(When calling, press nine (9) as prompted, you will then be in what seems a silent queue, however, please stay on the line even though it seems no one is answering.)

Alternatively, there are several options for getting tested in the community.

3. Understand when to get tested

You need to get tested:

  • If you become symptomatic

Having any of a sore throat, cough, runny or stuffy nose, loss of sense of taste or smell, headache, shortness of breath, vomiting, or diarrhea means you should get tested as soon as possible.

  • If you are advised to by the contract tracing team

For example, if you receive an SMS text message or phone call from the BHS Contact Tracing team.

  • On day 11 of your isolation period

This means 11 days after you last had contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Whilst in quarantine you will be placed on Special Leave.
