Grampians Health Ballarat offers career development opportunities for nurses within clinically focused post graduate programs. Post Graduate courses are offered in streams of Cancer Nursing, Critical Care, Cardiac Care, Emergency, Gerontology, Paediatrics and Perioperative Nursing in conjunction with University affiliates.

Programs

Each course is conducted over a 12 month period whereby the post graduate nurses are assessed by both academic work and clinical performance. The post graduate applicants are employed on a limited tenure contract at a minimum of 0.84 EFT for 52 weeks within their specialty area to enable them to fulfill the clinical requirements as set out by each by each university. The academic year generally runs from January/February to November. Post graduate learners complete online subjects, face-to-face contact lectures or remote learning.

Specialist educators facilitate clinical learning by implementing clinical assessments, completing performance appraisals and supporting the clinical and professional growth of the post graduate nurse in each area.

Prospective applicants are required to apply to both Grampians Health Ballarat and directly to the relevant university once the course is open for applications. Internal and external scholarships may be available.
