CLINICAL PRACTICE GUIDELINE

Neonatal Ehandbook
SCOPE (Area): Maternity Unit, Emergency, Paediatrics, Special Care Nursery
SCOPE (Staff): Medical, Nursing, Midwifery, Paediatric Consultants & Registrar
Printed versions of this document SHOULD NOT be considered up to date / current

Rationale

The Neonatal ehandbook has been developed by clinicians primarily for use by medical and nursing personnel working in Special Care Nurseries throughout Victoria. Ballarat Health Services utilises the guidelines as the main reference for management of newborn conditions during the early newborn period and deviation away from the standard guideline for care must be under the direction of the consultant Paediatrician with subsequent relevant documentation in the medical record.

Expected Objectives / Outcome

  • The Neonatal ehandbook is the guideline used for neonatal care at Ballarat Health Services

  • It is recommended that the Neonatal ehandbook be referred to for any neonatal management issues not otherwise covered in specific BHS CPGs/policies.
