Physiotherapists help people recover from injury, reduce pain and stiffness, increase mobility and independence and prevent further injury.

What do we do?

Physiotherapists assess your condition, diagnose the problem and work with you to put together a management plan to maximise your function.

Physiotherapists use a range of physical treatment methods including:

  • Exercise programs to improve mobility, strengthen muscles & improve endurance
  • Manual treatments to reduce pain and stiffness
  • Muscle re-education to improve control and coordination
  • Gait re-education and assistance with mobility aids
  • Airway clearance techniques and breathing exercises
  • Hydrotherapy

Who do we care for?

Physiotherapists work with all age groups, from the very young (children) to the elderly (geriatric) and work in a wide variety of clinical areas.

Physiotherapy addresses issues associated with neurological, cardiothoracic and musculoskeletal conditions.  Physiotherapists work in all inpatient programs, including acute (Intensive Care, Medical and Surgical) and subacute (Rehabilitation, GEM and Palliative Care).

Our team also provides Community Rehabilitation (including Neurological & General rehabilitation, Pain Management, Continence Clinic, Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Falls Clinic, Hydrotherapy and Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Services), Community Health (Lymphoedema and Paediatrics) and Acute Specialist Clinics.

How can you access this service?

Referrals for inpatient, community-based and Residential Aged Care Physiotherapy are received via internal team processes.  Please consult your treating team for details.

Referrals for Community Rehabilitation, Community Health and Specialist Clinics need to be directed to Community Program Central Intake. Referrals are then triaged, prioritised and clients are contacted when an appointment becomes available.
