Antenatal Clinic/Services

Antenatal Clinic

All clinics are held on the fifth floor of the Base Hospital building. Women have a medical review at Antenatal Clinic on either Wednesday or Thursday mornings. Specialist clinics include Maternity Day Assessment Unit, Anaesthetic Pre-Admission and diabetic.
Support services include social work, psychology, physiotherapy and continence.

Midwives Clinic

At this clinic midwives care for women at low risk for complications during pregnancy. The clinic is conducted each on level five of the Base Hospital. (Refer to map.)

Teenage and Aboriginal Clinic

For teenage and Aboriginal women, there is the provision of antenatal obstetric care, social work support, antenatal education and group antenatal sessions.

Primary Midwifery Care Program

Appointments are arranged for a mutually convenient time.

Maternity Day Assessment Unit

This model of care involves inpatient antenatal assessment requiring a 4 hour admission. It is run on 2 afternoons per week to assess the well-being of the fetus and the mother in complicated pregnancies. Patients are referred to this unit from the general antenatal clinic or from other regional centres for specialist monitoring. The unit is staffed by a Midwife, the senior Registrar and an Ultrasonographer.

Triage

An outpatient service for women at greater than 20 week gestation with an obstetric related condition. Women are seen on the Maternity Unit between 1pm and 3 pm by appointment
